Mobile Streaming

             "Media streaming is the process in which a constant flow of information is delivered through a media channel to an end user. With recent developments in media such as television, radio, and Internet, there are many ways to deliver information to a receiver. With the introduction of the smartphone in 2007" (Apple Article, 2007) and other mobile devices such as the tablet, a new generation of streaming has been developed: mobile streaming. ".

             Mobile streaming means delivering content over the Internet while displaying it to the viewer at the same time. Mobile streaming has become more popular as many people had adopted the mobile devices that allow them to reach for content. There are three types of streaming that are the most common: Live, Time-Shifted" and On-Demand (Communication Technology, page 98).

             This topic is significant because the adoption of this new technology is developing quite rapidly, in connection to the increasing number of people are adopting the mobile devices. Originally, content for the mobile devices was scarce, but now this medium medium has become very popular among mobile device users. Technology is developing and all of the new product releases are compact devices that are portable for the user. Also, this is a new medium for advertiser to place their commercials and ads to reach their target audience.

             This paper describes the innovative techniques for streaming video and audio to a mobile device. Experts affirm that the future of media content, including television and radio, will be streamed over the Internet and delivered to all kinds of mobile devices.

             II. History .

             During the late 1990's and early 2000's, Internet users realized that the Internet was going to be one of the most powerful tools in history, but it needed to be more developed. Network bandwidth needed to be greater, access to networks needed to increase and the use of standard protocols and formats (TCP/IP, HTML and HTTP) needed to be universal.
