The Psychiatric Conditions

Increasingly, daily events require the ability to handle stress and change as the word becomes more complex and the pace of change grows. If a person is mentally healthy, he/she can successfully handle such stressors, complete productive activities and outcomes, have fulfilling relationships with friends, family, coworkers and other individuals and feel proud of his/her accomplishments and overall life abilities and achievements. .

Mental health is more than not having such psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety or fears. It is having a positive approach to life in its many different aspects. For example, people who are mentally healthy on the whole enjoy their lives. They look forward to what is to come and make plans that will further their own interests as well as those they care about. They have personal interests and pastimes and gain pleasure from their work.

As noted, healthy people are able to handle stress. They "bounce back" after unsuccessfully meeting a challenge and see barriers as possibilities rather than complete dead ends. Although faced with adversity, as everyone is, they have the ability to recognize it is short-lived and there will better days in the future. Similarly, such people are flexible and able to look at different approaches and change their direction. .

Mentally healthy people find balance in their lives. They may work long hours and be very busy with other activities at one time, but realize that this must be balanced off with quiet and reflective times for doing something for oneself. .

Naturally, these people will feel anger, sadness, frustration and other emotions. However, they will use these emotions as coping mechanisms rather than crutches or factors that bring them down to such a level they cannot get up again. Most important, mental health is not something that comes naturally to all people. One must work toward being balanced, flexible and able to handle the stress of life.
